Happy hump day critters!

I was extremely optimistic to think I would have all the character art finished by December-- BUT I see the light at the end of the tunnel now! Just two left to go and I can move on to designing the new hang tags 💖




In addition to the new art, I received some sample photos of the WIP pins! I'm very impressed with how vibrant they are and can't wait to see them in person. The UV printing preserved all the fiddly lil' details just like I hoped it would.



While on the subject of pins, I also mocked up the early bird reward for March's pintopia campaign! Ain't it cute? 🥹 I hope to have it produced as a 1.5" pin, both in a gold plate and rainbow plate version. And a quick heads up: February will likely be a slow month with the Chinese holiday bringing any production to a halt. Work on prototypes and other samples will resume in late-feb!

I got the green light yesterday to begin setting up my Pintopia campaign! What's Pintopia you might ask? A collective crowdfunding project hosted by BackerKit featuring dozens of creators with a singular goal-- make a bunch of cool pins! The more participating pin projects you back, the more free rewards you earn (including exclusive collab pins like the one between Crossed Paths and I).

As someone fairly new to the enamel pin game, I think this is an excellent opportunity to dive right in and explore as many different pin styles as I can. Glitter, dyed metal, screen printed details, you name it! I have lots of ideas, many of which involve the character art you've already seen and enjoy, but I have some surprises up my sleeve as well!

Why am I announcing this here? Because my project will be all about the Snughouls of course! 😜 No need to worry about where you're going to stash all your favorite snughoul plushies when you can collect some of them as pins instead. Keep them forever AND save some space-- it's a win/win!

Got a bit of a different update for you today. I'd like to take a second to shine a light on follow plush creator Wildncrafty's campaign-- Kidd Krampus!



They've got about two weeks to go and have reached their funding goal! Not only that, but they're currently hosting a poll to determine who their next cryptic companion should be and I highly recommend giving those cute critters a peek.

As promised, the new arrivals had their photoshoot today!

I'm so pleased with these new samples overall. After working with them for so long, my manufacturer knows exactly what I want and often nails these designs in the first or second attempt. Just look at these incredible critters!
 

I'll be updating the preorder store with these pictures shortly. 

Gutsy will be receiving an embroidered belly badge, and Pumpkin Patch will receive his bat wings as well as a  modified belly badge for better contrast.



These alterations should be complete after the Chinese new year (so mid-to-late february if I had to guess), and we should get our first look at Luna and Grimshroud shortly after that!

I was very purposeful in my decision to not lock orders until after the prototypes were 100% complete. This is a huge campaign with thousands of eyes on each update, making it impossible to please everyone while also staying true to my creative vision throughout the development of each plush.

Designs will occasionally change during the prototyping processing. That's just how I work, and the nature of a project that is growing and developing in real time. I try to keep dramatic changes to a minimum and believe I have done a fairly good job of that, but I realize even smaller changes can be incredibly divisive and disappointing for many. 

That's why you are absolutely welcome to select a different plush or request a refund when these changes happen. I honor every request and have instructed the BackerKit team to do the same when they're contacted by snughoul backers. 

All of this to say while I want to continue soliciting community feedback, it is admittedly a little intimidating when almost any change I make is met with varying levels of upset and vitriol. 

I invite you to share your feedback, to express your feelings even when they're negative, but I do also ask that you remember good and bad (in terms of art) is subjective, and I'm just one person with a deep emotional investment in this project too. Thank you! 💖
